Here are some of our guest’s favorite Saranac summer activities:

Take a Hike

Whether you’re looking for a leisurely nature stroll or a hardcore uphill hike through some challenging terrain, Saranac Lake gives you lots of choices. The smaller mountains in the region offer easier access and fantastic Adirondack views. Beginner routes without much of a climb include The Pines Trail and the Bloomingdale Bog Trails. More advanced hikes cover Baker, Ampersand, Panther, and Scarface Mountain, right in Moreno’s backyard. For a more relaxed trek or a scenic bike ride, you can explore the Adirondack Rail Trail, a multi-use pathway connecting communities and offering stunning views of the region’s lakes, forests, and wildlife.

Enjoy Saranac’s Lakes by Kayak, Canoe, or Boat

Saranac Lake is really three lakes, Upper, Middle, and Lower, and they’re connected by the Saranac River, which runs right through the center of town. Lake Flower, in downtown Saranac Lake, gives you access to more than 24 miles of navigable waterways. It’s the best spot to launch your adventure on the Adirondack Lakes, which, in addition to the Saranac lakes, include Oseetah Lake, Kiwassa Lake and Lake Flower.

Mountain Bike the Local Trails

The Dewey Mountain and Mt. Pisgah Recreation Centers offer excellent mountain biking trails for every level of rider. Dewey Mountain features 5.5 miles of singletrack mountain bike trails. Difficulty ranges from cruiser to hardcore as riders can climb 450 vertical feet to the summit. Mt. Pisgah offers a network of beginner-friendly paths, scenic trails, and technical terrain weaves through the scenic Adirondack landscape.

Food, Arts, & Music in the Village

The Village of Saranac Lake shows off its unique combination of food, shops, and attractions throughout the summer. You can get everything from a hearty breakfast to a local craft beer at lunchtime and then enjoy a gourmet dinner with a great view of the lake. Summer brings a vibrant downtown vibe, and during the Third Thursday ArtWalks, local artists showcase handcrafted goods and artwork in the many shops and galleries. Music on the Green, a free outdoor concert series each Wednesday evening in Riverside Park, showcases talented musicians in genres ranging from folk to funk. For theater buffs, the Pendragon Theater Pendragon Theatre offers professional theatrical productions all summer, and various theatre and music performances, educational workshops, and much more all year long.
