Stay at Moreno’s and Enjoy the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival

When winter comes to the Adirondacks, everyone’s starts looking forward to the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival. Locals and visitors have enjoyed the festival since 1897, and many of our guests mark this event on their calendars as a reminder to make their reservations early for our year-round accommodations.

The Winter Carnival is Fun for Everyone

The winter carnival, one of the oldest in the U.S., is a longstanding tradition in Saranac Lake, is organized by the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Committee, run by community volunteers, and funded by generous sponsors. The 10-day festival features live performances, two parades, and three fireworks shows. The heart of the festival is the Ice Palace, built on the shore of Lake Flower’s Pontiac Bay at the state boat launch.

A winter carnival in the North Country wouldn’t be complete without traditional and some not-so-traditional winter sports. Snowshoeing and Nordic ski racing events are held at the Dewey Mountain Cross-Country Ski Center, innertube and alpine skiing races at Mount Pisgah Ski Center, and more throughout the festival. Non-traditional sports include snowflake volleyball, snowshoe softball, Firemen’s Broomball and an exhibition of woodsmen’s logging skills with Paul Smith’s College students at Riverside Park.

Make Moreno’s Your Home for the Carnival

After a long day at the winter carnival, coming back to Moreno’s year-round accommodations is a great way to warm up, unwind, and get ready for the next day of Adirondack outdoor fun.

We love this time of year and look forward to celebrating the winter carnival with you and your family.
