Lake Placid is a recreation lover’s paradise, offering hiking, biking, paddling and more in the beautiful Adirondack Park. Hike to dozens of waterfalls, summit the famed Adirondack High Peaks, and explore the Lussi and Logger mountain bike trails. Take a leisurely paddle around Mirror Lake, soak up the sun on the sandy beach, or fly-fish the Ausable River. In winter, visitors enjoy snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, as well as downhill skiing and riding at nearby Whiteface Mountain.

Olympic Attractions
Visit the sites of the 1932 and 1980 Olympic Winter Games, including the rink where the U.S. hockey team won the famous “Miracle on Ice” game against the heavily-favored Soviet Union. Enjoy year-round ice skating in the Olympic Center and tour the Olympic Museum. Take an elevator to the top of the ski jumps and ride the Cliffside Coaster alongside the Olympic bobsled track. You can even ski the Olympic slopes at Whiteface Mountain, and enjoy hiking, gondola rides and a scenic drive to the summit in the off-season.

Lake Placid is home to several world-class sporting events, including the legendary Ironman triathlon, the Empire State Winter Games and the World University Games, as well as many hockey and lacrosse tournaments.
